Tonight,Miley Cyruswas nowhere to be found when the red carpet rolled out for the 98th Academy Awards.

However, Cyrus has been keeping quite busy recently. Since the release of her ninth studio album,Something Beautiful,in 2025, the multi-talented star has been hard at work on herHannah Montana20th anniversary special(which airs on March 24). Hosted by Alex Cooper, this special was filmed in front of a live studio audience, and it sees Cyrus revisiting all the music and moments that helped make the show such a smash hit—and fans can likely expect a few surprise performances along the way, too.

It hasn't been long since Miley Cyrus hit the Oscars red carpet, though. Just last year, the Grammy winner attended the ceremony in asequined black halter gownfrom McQueen. The sleeveless design featured a distressed bodice and a transparent skirt, with small little lace gloves to match. However, the real showstopper was her glam, which consisted of a pair of bleached brows and a curly, side-parted hairdo.

This year, despite the fact that herAvatar: Fire and Ashsoundtrack cut "Dream as One" received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song, it was not recognized at the 98th Oscars. Since Cyrus was not nominated or chosen as a presenter, it is likely those are the reasons why she was absent from the ceremony. (Prior to 2025, the last time Cyrus had attended the Academy Awards was all the way back in 2010.)

When Cyrus took the stage last year, it was to present the award for Best Sound alongisde actor Miles Teller. As she later revealed toPeople, she also used the ceremonyto pitch herselfto directors, offering to write songs for their films. "Everybody that came up and introduced themselves, I said, 'Well, if you need any music, I'm around,'" she said. Here's hoping she gets another opportunity sometime soon.
