McLaren got back on top inFormula 1's return to European circuits with a 1-2 at the Austrian Grand Prix. Lando Norris notched his third win of the season as teammate and championship leader Oscar Piastri couldn't get past him in the closing laps. Ferrari ended up as the second-fastest package of the weekend behind the dominant McLarens. Charles Leclerc earned his third podium in the last four races with a third-place finish 19.8 seconds behind Norris. Teammate Lewis Hamilton was a further 10 seconds behind to secure Ferrari's best points haul since the Monaco Grand Prix. A Lap 1 collision between Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli and Red Bull's Max Verstappen knocked both drivers out of the race. Verstappen's gap to the McLaren duo in the drivers' championship widened with that result; he's now 46 points behind Norris and 61 behind leader Piastri. Last year saw a thrilling race in mixed conditions that culminated in Hamilton's first win since 2021. That win marked his ninth at the circuit, an F1 record for one driver at a specific track.
