The final race of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season came down to the wire with Kyle Larson beating out Denny Hamlin to secure his second career Cup Series championship at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona on Sunday.

Larson was one of the four drivers including Hamlin, Chase Briscoe and William Byron in contention for the title, but Larson managed to finish in third position, ahead of the other three contenders to claim the championship.

The race came with some drama as a late caution sent the finale into overtime.

The 44-year-old Hamlin, who was looking to finally achieve glory after making his NASCAR debut in 2004, found himself three laps away from the win when Byron got a flat tire and hit the wall alongside the track to bring out the caution.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Hamlin, then went to pit for four new tires while Hendrick Motorsports' Larson only got two which placed him in fifth position ahead of Hamlin, who was in 10th.

With not enough time in the race, Hamlin finished in sixth as Ryan Blaney, who was eliminated from title contention last week, took the checkered flag.

It is the second championship for the 33-year-old in 11 seasons. Larson won his first title in 2021 when he joined Hendrick Motorsports.

"Honestly, I can't believe it. We didn't lead a lap today and somehow won the championship," Larson told the NBC broadcast after the race. "Really, I'm just speechless. I can't believe it. We had an average car at best."

An emotionless Hamlin sat in his car, wiping his face with a towel as Larson celebrated with his team. After some time, Hamlin emerged from his car and was greeted by his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, relishing the fact his sixth attempt at a title wasted away despite leading 208 of the 319 laps after starting on the pole.

"Nothing I could do different. I mean, prepared as good as I could coming into the weekend and my team gave me a fantastic car," Hamlin said. "Just didn't work out. I was just praying 'no caution' and we had one there. What can you do? It's just not meant to be."

Hamlin said his crew chief made the right call with the tires and reiterated that the team did a "fantastic job" while sounding defeated on his future chances.

"I'll try. I got a couple more shots at it but man, if you can't win that one, I don't know which one you can win," Hamlin added.

Larson, the only Asian American to race full-time in NASCAR, has not won a race since May, totaling 24 consecutive races but thanked his crew chief Cliff Daniels for keeping the team together.

"Unbelievable! What a year by Hendrick Motorsports team. Cliff Daniels, everybody," Larson said. "His leadership – his complete leadership just showed that whole race. Keep us all motivated. Always having a plan and all that. So, thats the story of our season."

Briscoe finished in 18th with Byron coming in 33rd after the late issue.

NFL kicking has reached the point in which 60-yard field-goal attempts aren't that big of a deal.

Even a 68-yard try wasn't too much for the Jacksonville Jaguars and their kicker, Cam Little.

Near the end of the first half at the Las Vegas Raiders, Trevor Lawrence completed a pass over the middle and spiked the ball to stop the clock with four seconds left. The field-goal attempt would be 68 yards. There had never been a field goal longer than 66 made in an NFL game. Jaguars head coach Liam Coen wasn't fazed.

Little came on for the kick and not only did he make the 68-yarder, setting a new NFL record, but he had plenty of space to spare. It would have been good from 70 or maybe a little longer.

It was a huge play in the outcome of the game. The Jaguars won 30-29 in overtime — Little hit a 48-yard field goal in the final seconds of regulation to sent it to overtime — and they might not have been able to pull it out without Little's three-point bomb at the end of the first half.

Baltimore's Justin Tucker held the record with a 66-yard field goal to beat Detroit in 2021. Now there's a new standard.

One of the reasons the Jaguars were comfortable with Little trying a 68-yarder is they had seen him hit a longer one in a game situation. This preseason, Little nailed a 70-yarder. That didn't count for an official record, but it gave the Jaguars confidence that if they had a similar situation it wouldn't be crazy to let Little try it.

Little was a sixth-round draft pick in 2024 by the Jaguars, and he hit 93.1% of his field goals as a rookie. Now he has a piece of NFL history.

ACC issues public reprimand of Dabo Swinney for criticizing refs in Clemson's loss to Duke

The Atlantic Coast Conference has issued a public reprimand of Dabo Swinney for his postgame comments on the officiating in Clemson football's loss to Duke on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The Tigers were additionally given a $10,000 fine by the ACC for Swinney's comments in "direct violation" of the ACC Sportsmanship policy, according to the conference's news release. The fine is to be paid to the ACC's Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship account.

The punishment comes less than 24 hours after Swinney called out the officials in his postgame conference for giving Clemson a defensive pass interference penalty on fourth-and-10 on Duke's final drive of the game that led to an eventual game-winning touchdown and two-point conversion.

The penalty was assessed to Avieon Terrell on an incomplete pass from Duke quarterback Darian Mensah to wide receiver Que'Sean Brown with 49 seconds remaining in the game. As noted by the Greenville News' Derrian Carter, Swinney believed a flag should've been thrown for offensive pass interference on Duke instead of defensive pass interference on Clemson.

"It shouldn't come down to that. We had plenty of opportunity to win the game, but that's one of the worst calls I've ever seen in my entire coaching career. Ever," Swinney said of the penalty on Nov. 1.

In its news release, the ACC mentioned Swinney's comments violated the conference's sportsmanship policy, which states: "Public criticism of officials or public comments evaluating the officiating of particular contests is not in the best interest of intercollegiate athletics. Individuals associated with the athletics program are prohibited, therefore, from commenting while acting in an official capacity on officiating other than directly to the Conference office."

As noted by the Greenville News, part of the USA TODAY Network, Clemson has now lost six consecutive home games against Power conference teams for the first time since the 1970-71 seasons and will finish with its worst home record and ACC record since 1999.

Up next for Swinney and Clemson will be a Week 11 home game against Florida State at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Memorial Stadium, where the Tigers will look to win back-to-back games against the Seminoles.

Daya Betty's roast of Ross Mathews might've landed with lukewarm reception from the *RuPaul's Drag Race* judges, but that doesn't mean she didn't at least *try* to turn up the heat with her originally planned set of jokes.

Appearing on the latest episode of EW's BINGE podcast, Daya reveals that she cut a few jokes from her routine during the comedy challenge, but promises that some of them remain too controversial to tell.

"I had a whole list of 'Ross Mathews is so gay' jokes. One I had that didn't make the cut was: Ross Mathews is so gay, his favorite moisturizer was Astroglide," Daya recalls, adding with a laugh that others didn't make it past the initial screening process for far more hilarious reasons. "The people in the room that were ok'ing [the jokes] were like, 'Nope, you can't stay that!' I'm not even going to say it here because it's probably way too inappropriate. There was plenty [of] crazier, more inappropriate jokes. I'll just say it was severely inappropriate and there was a reason it was not aired."

She says the challenge also wrapped with an impromptu set from Michelle Visage, which she says the queens thoroughly enjoyed. But, for most of them — including eliminated queen DeJa Skye, who left alongside Jorgeous after they lost a three-way lip-sync against Daya — the roast actually began in the Werk Room as the queens workshopped their material among the sisterhood.

"We kind of used each other as practice dummies. Especially DeJa. DeJa was the best at it. She'd sit down in her little corner and she'd yell out a joke randomly, and we'd all be like, thumbs up, thumbs down, and, let's be honest, they were pretty much all thumbs down," Daya remembers. "You saw the episode, I had some thumbs down myself. It turned into a collaborative effort. I personally was working on my jokes even after makeup. I was still finessing jokes."

The doors Kandy Muse opened for backpack skirts — like the one she wore during her infamous *Untucked* clash with Tamisha Iman — can still be felt on the *RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 7* runway, and the "Producer" herself has something to say about it.

But before diving into our latest recap of *AS7* on *EW's BINGE* podcast (below), the season 13 runner-up exclusively tells EW how she patched things up with Tamisha at RuPaul's DragCon L.A. last month, following a turbulent period in the costars' relationship throughout most of 2021.

"I wasn't sure how it was going to go between me and Tamisha, because I knew we had to do the queen walk, and we hadn't spoken since the whole blocked-on-Instagram situation," Kandy recalls of lining up to walk the pink carpet atop the main floor at the drag convention. "We were back stage, I looked at her, she looked at me, we just went up to each other, hugged each other and were like, 'Hey girl, how have you been?'"

Kandy says fellow cast member Denali then suggested that she stand with Tamisha as the cast hit the carpet, when she remembers Tamisha asking her if they wanted to "walk together" in front of fans for the first time since they publicly butted heads across social media following their iconic argument on *Untucked*.

"I was like, 'Yeah, you know what, you go out there first, pause on the carpet, then I'll go out there and we'll hold hands.' It really was a moment," Kandy says. "For the rest of that weekend, I kept popping back up and she kept popping back up at my booth and [we were] having a good time. We're in the works of working out something together for the future.... absolutely, why not, I think people love the dynamic of me and Tamisha for whatever reason, so, let's make it work. Life is too short. It's not personal, it's just drag!"

Turning her attention to *All Stars 7*, Kandy also says she got a kick out of judge Michelle Visage praising last week's challenge winner Jaida Essence Hall for using bags on her skirt over a year after the season 13 finalist memorably hot-glued a bunch of backpacks to her waist for her ball challenge back in 2021.

"I thought Jaida looked incredible, and when Michelle [asked] who would've thought to put backpacks on a skirt on a ball episode, which is exactly what I did on my ball episode, I was like, hmm, interesting," Kandy says with a laugh, going on to reveal that she had initially begun to construct an entirely different outfit made of plaid acrylic bags, but decided against it at the last minute as she pivoted to the colorful backpack ensemble she created.

She says the look is still in her closet, though the fragile piece is "hanging on by a thread, or by glue," and might only make a comeback if her planned collaboration with Tamisha ever comes to fruition.

Kandy ultimately feels that the *All Stars 7* ball ranks as "cohesively, one of the best balls" in franchise her-story — even with the threat of season 7 winner Violet Chachki booting fan-favorite looks, like she recently did to Raja.

"I think that it's hilarious, I think that people take the opinions of other people way too literal and serious," Kandy says of the drama surrounding Raja getting "booted" on the *Fashion Photo RuView* recap show Violet hosts with season 13's Gottmik. "To me, a boot from Violet Chachki is just a boot from Violet Chachki. It doesn't change or make anything. Fashion, to me, is art, and art is subjective. Some people thought that my alien look was campy, some people hated the alien look, the beauty is behind the beholder's eye — or whatever the saying is."

Straight Pride™ ended when Maddy Morphosis sashayed away from *RuPaul's Drag Race* season 14.

Though many fan-generated memes suggested otherwise, RuPaul's three-time Emmy-winning fashion mastermind Zaldy tells EW the *Drag Race *host's now-iconic patchwork dress from the April 8 "Catwalk" episode was not, in fact, a tribute to Maddy's affectionately derided, country-friend Glamazon Prime creation from episode 6.

"That's purely coincidence. There are two different things: Yes, it's the same kind of [aesthetic] muse, but that look for Ru, we always love a coat of many colors as a reference," Zaldy says on the new episode of EW's BINGE podcast above, adding that the final creation was actually an intricately crafted tapestry of several past looks RuPaul has worn over the years.

"We created it because, every now and again, I save so many of the scraps of things we use for Ru outfits because I think they're just so beautiful," Zaldy continues, noting that there are pieces of Ru's favorite dress — the pink and orange leopard number remixed by Shea Couleé on last week's *All Stars 7* episode — spread throughout the design. "That one, if you look closely, does have these sacred pieces of the hand-painted leopard [dress] in that look. That look is very designed. It has gradating diamond patterns that get smaller toward the top. It's very involved. It's not [just] a patchwork thrown together."

Zaldy, who's worked with RuPaul for decades, also revealed that Shea's *All Stars 7* recreation shook him the hardest, with her hand-crafted "gradation of the scale of the spots" giving him "goosebumps" as he watched her re-design RuPaul's favorite look of all time.

As for the rest of the all-winners cast, who were also tasked with re-interpreting famous RuPaul looks, Zaldy commended them for not simply remixing the clothes, but tailoring them to fit their personal aesthetics.

"If I'm going for who was the most glamorous vision, it was definitely Jaida [Essence Hall]," he observes. "When she came out with that little, tiny mini fur and tied it back to a Diana Ross hairstyle, it was just an incredible, visually stunning look. So was Trinity [The Tuck's], this outrageous head-to-toe look. Everybody really had a moment. I was really impressed with their thought process and their interpretation. Everybody did something I was really touched by."

Though he steers the ship when it comes to RuPaul's closet, he clarifies with a laugh that he isn't the one who put RuPaul in flip-flops and a tracksuit for the Fairytale Justice challenge several episodes ago.

"Ru likes to play, too," he says. "Ru loves fashion, and Ru plays. She loves it. That's 100 percent Ru.... I don't put anybody in flip-flops!"

- In* South Park*'s latest episode, Stan says, "South Park sucks now, and it's because of all this political s---."

- The ep also shows the president's wife, Melania Trump — whom he does not recognize — haunting the White House.

- Pam Bondi holds a seance after filing charges against paranormal investigators for "falsifying information" about the president's "rectoplasm."

*South Park* dropped a new episode on Halloween night, getting addressing criticism of its own focus on politics but continuing to lampoon Donald Trump and his allies.

The second episode of season 28, titled "The Woman in the Hat," sees Stan move into his grandfather's nursing home since his father has lost his job in the government shutdown. Fed up with his circumstances, he turns to making broad, sweeping critiques of his hometown and, in a big meta wink, the show itself.

"How many weeks has it been now dealing with one stupid thing after another?" he asks his friends. "The truth is, I think a lot of people are just afraid to admit that South Park sucks now."

Poking fun at viewers who don't want the show to address contemporary politics, Stan continues, "South Park sucks now, and it's because of all this political s---. We're just getting totally bogged down in it. Remember when *we* used to do stuff? Just us guys? Ever since all this political crap took over, it's like, 'What happened to us?'"

Stan's unhappiness leads him to start a "South Park Sucks Now" movement online, which quickly racks up hundreds of thousands of supporters and prompts him to launch a cryptocurrency meme coin that he and his buddies plan to "pump and dump" to maximize their profits.

As all of Stan's antics unfold, the episode intercuts with a continuation of the show's Trump subplot, which left off with the president expecting a child with his pregnant lover, Satan.

Trump and his giant red bae stand in the wreckage of the White House's East Wing, which, as in real life, is being demolished to make way for a ballroom. Satan expresses his disappointment that the construction project isn't for a nursery for their forthcoming child, as the president supposedly promised.

Advisor Stephen Miller — depicted as a Nosferatu-esque creep — says demolishing the East Wing may have "unleashed some sort of wrath" on Trump and his allies. In the next Trump scene, the president tells his allies about "this thing that keeps appearing," which turns out to be the specter of his wife, Melania Trump, who is sporting a wide-brimmed purple hat obscuring her face akin to the one she wore on her trip to the U.K.

Trump seems not to recognize his wife. "What does it want?" he asks incredulously after advisors identify the presence as Melania.

Attorney General Pam Bondi also continues to appear throughout the episode with increasingly large brown stains on her nose, suggesting she's, uh, extremely loyal to the president. The mess on Bondi's face is later dubbed "rectoplasm" by paranormal investigators who have arrived to evaluate the ghostly presence. They say their tests have revealed that the substance contains McDonald's, Taco Bell, and the president's semen.

'South Park' parodied Donald Trump in a new episode

Bondi indicts the paranormal investigators on federal charges of falsifying data in order to "make fake news." She then goes on to lead a seance to communicate with the mysterious spirit (nobody seems to remember it's Melania) that is attended by a reluctant Kyle Schwartz — Kyle Broflovski's cousin, whom the South Park gang called on to assist them with their crypto scheme and lobby the White House for approval.

At the seance, Bondi announces (perhaps while possessed by a spirit?) that Vice President J.D. Vance is full of "deception" — a reference to his underlying plot with Peter Thiel to stop Satan from birthing Trump's offspring.

Kyle Schwartz, unaware of the dynamics at play, thinks *he's* being accused of deception, and so he comes clean. "It's all true," he says." We've been dealing in deception and lies. We've all been getting filthy rich off of crypto. Oh, Jesus. We've lied and we've cheated. Crypto's just a giant money-laundering scheme for the rich to get richer."

Kyle Schwartz is then indicted after Bondi files charges against him, saying, "We will continue to indict anyone who says bad stuff about our amazing president."

After the failure of the crypto scheme, the episode concludes with Stan saying remorsefully, "There's no really going back to the way things used to be."

Kyle Broflovski disagrees, perhaps to offer some assurance to *South Park*'s apolitical viewers. "Things will get back, Stan," he says. "I know it's hard to see right now, but things will go back to normal. And in the meantime, we just have to make the most of where we are."

Representatives for the White House, the Justice Department, and Melania Trump did not immediately respond to **'s request for comment.

*South Park* is scheduled to return Nov. 12 on Comedy Central and stream Nov. 13 on Paramount+.

Hi all — welcome to the *SNL* in Review recap extravaganza. The show has returned and tonight is hosted by Miles Teller. It's his second time. Fans will remember he kicked off season 48.

I am joined this evening by former *Saturday Night Live* cast member Aristotle Athari, who has a new movie out. *The French Italian* is streaming now on Apple and Amazon. "I had a blast making it," says Athari. "Honestly, I don't know how we got through it because we were cracking up the entire time, mostly thanks to Ruby [McCollister] and Cat [Cohen]. I'm still shocked they managed to edit together a full movie with how many takes we ruined laughing."

Teller's second *SNL* gig is in advance of his new romantic comedy/fantasy film, *Eternity*, hitting theaters on Nov. 26. Last time he hosted, he was riding the wild success of* Top Gun: Maverick*.

Brandi Carlile is also back making her fourth *SNL* appearance.

There are on-the-ground reports about relatively short standby lines outside of 30 Rock for this one — let's hope that does not suggest there will be a low-energy audience tonight!**

It's Spectrum NY1, the region's "number five news station." It's the final and fictional NYC mayoral debate. Brought to you by… bike lanes!

It's two viable candidates and one classic New York nut. Teller portrays the disgraced Andrew Cuomo. In a bit of stunt casting, Ramy Youssef plays Zohran Mamdani, while Shane Gillis plays Curtis Sliwa. No applause for Shane, curiously. And no cast members present in this sketch besides Kenan Thompson, who notes he is playing the least famous person ever impersonated on the show. Kenan shames Mamdani for his TikTokkery and being a nerd and Youssef calls out the candidate relying on white guilt driving his support.

James Austin Johnson's Trump takes over with a soliloquy that ends with a number out of *Phantom of the Opera*. Inspired!

Cuomo was previously played by Pete Davidson on the show. Kam Patterson replaces Devon Walker as Mayor Eric Adams.

Teller dances out onto the stage and talks about how he used to dress as *SNL *characters like the Night at the Roxbury guys growing up. He moved around a lot as a kid — and movingly describes why 8H feels like home to him. It's pretty breezy, but Teller is charming and funny. He also opens up about losing his home in the Pacific Palisades fire in January.

"A lot has happened since the last time that I hosted," says Teller. "A few months ago, my wife and I lost our house in the Palisades fire. But don't worry, seriously do not worry, we're doing great. That experience has made me incredibly grateful to have so many places that I can call home... but based on what happened to the last place that I called home, I just want to say there's fire exits located there, there, there..."

"Teller's always had strong comedic instincts," notes Athari. "You can see the timing behind his eyes."

"Hungover Halloween Game Show"

Gay Fopay (Thompson) welcomes us back to a game show about being extremely hungover. (Big Kenan episode so far!) Teller, Ben Marshall, and Veronika Slowikowska are the miserable contestants who must guess what they did the night before. If they answer incorrectly, a wicked punishment awaits.

"White House Makeover"

The twins are renovating the East Wing of the White House. We get our second appearance of Johnson's Trump — brilliant, depressing stuff. Teller is really funny as Drew and Jonathan Scott. Watch this! I loved it.

Chloe Fineman takes over as Melania here, following Paris Hilton way back in 2005 (pre first lady duties!) and more famously by Cecily Strong from 2015 to 2019.

FYI —the Property Brothers made a surprise appearance during the first show of 2023 in season 48 as judges during the Miss Universe sketch alongside Tony Hawk.**

"Hockey PSA"

Players from the Nashville Predators, Los Angeles Kings and New York Rangers are reading promos for their charity work. The Kings and Rangers players make playful puns in their scripts about being kings and rangers in their community. Teller plays the Predator and, well, he has an issue saying he works in hospitals making sick kids feel touched. And visiting Thailand, so hopefully he can "rub off on some kids" so they become Predators too.

Ashley Padilla and Andrew Dismukes are great as the vain directors.

Daphne Dodd (Fineman) and economist P.L. Henry (Thompson) are discussing world news in a renovated studio. Mikey Day walks by in the background of the new set and crashes into the wall. We observe the embarrassing background activities of the workers in contrast with the serious topics being discussed — inflation, etc. "Put up a wall, stat!"**

Brandi Carlile performs "Church & State"

This is a fiery, political song — almost has a Neil Young vibe, to me. In fact, Carlile conceived the song last November, on the day of the election. She's called it carnal and "a primal cry for self-preservation in a way, and not just for me, for everybody."

Carlile made her musical guest debut during the Halloween-themed show during season 47, hosted by Jason Sudeikis. She performed "Broken Horses" and "Right on Time." Athari shares, "That was one of my favorite performances, I remember it well."

Weekend Update

Colin Jost talks about the White House Halloween and how genuinely weird Trump is.

Michael Che posted a moving message on his Instagram earlier today — an out-of-character note about his history with SNAP and the insanity around denying benefits to people during the government shutdown. Here, he makes a blistering joke about the Second Amendment.

This weekend is the New York Marathon… and George Santos is here to discuss it! Yes, it's the return of Bowen Yang's impression of the pathological liar disgraced congressman, recently pardoned by Trump. "Give me back my angels!" shouts Jost, after Santos steals his wallet revealing he has pictures of all the female cast members in his wallet. Santos reveals he recently robbed the jewels from the Louvre. "Diddy, miss you too, roomie." (In a nice touch, Santos holds up a hat of the Dodgers — who literally just won the World Series moments ago!)

The government shutdown has entered day 32. Two people who just hooked up (Padilla, Dismukes) come on to discuss it. They can't help but interrupt what they are talking about to gaze into one another's eyes. It's still the meet cute. They recount hooking up in Colin's dressing room. Great stuff, and nice to see the two of them reunited so soon after the NHL promo sketch.

Murder Press Briefing

The Steak Knife slasher is on the loose. The police department is having a press conference, but the lead detective (Teller) can't comment on the details of the case.

Dismukes is funny as one of the journalists, Dave Allen, he's the author of *Gar-Girl*, a rejected graphic novel. Slowly, he takes over the conference: "Dave Allen, voice of a generation." Again, Padilla has a big moment. Good stuff!**

Brandi Carlile performs "Human"

"Human" was co-produced by Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon. Another strong one.

Carlile only last appeared on *SNL* in April, when she performed alongside Elton John to promote their collaborative album *Who Believes in Angels?.*

"Italian Restaurant Date"

We're in the best Italian restaurant in Nebraska. Oh God, pasta puns. Two waiters played by Teller and Marcello Hernandez are broad cartoons, like modern ancestors of the Pepper Boy sketch. Or rather the overly affectionate staff from the Il Cantore sketch back in 1991. Mostly a mess though Miles is game.
